Each evening after dinner, I cut up sweet Bartlett pears and set them on little plates with bunches of Concord grapes for desert for the three of us.
The pears have been ripening apace: I take four or so out of the fridge, and replace them with four that have turned yellow. Most come from our smaller tree. The grapes are attacked, like Yamamoto's aircraft carriers, both from a high level (birds) and a low level (yellow jackets, fruit flies), so I piled a bunch in the fridge, and more in a cooler, which should keep us three more weeks or so. The taste lingers long after the feast. Purple and gold go well together.
Go Dawgs! 3-0, but the tough opponents are still on the horizon. Keep throwing 400+ yards a week, though, I might give you some of my grapes . . . They should last into October.
