Modern Slavery

The history of slavery reflects humanity's long struggle for freedom and human rights. Slavery is a system in which individuals are forced to work without pay and their basic rights are removed. The history of slavery is long and complex, with different forms and practices in different parts of the world throughout time. Despite much progress, challenges remain in eradicating all forms of slavery in the world today. Although slavery was officially abolished, modern forms of slavery still exist such as human trafficking, forced labor, and debt slavery. International organizations such as the UN and ILO work to combat modern slavery, where other forms of forced labor such as serfdom are becoming more common. Serfs were peasants who were tied to land owned by landowners and had to work for their Masters.
