Big Little Lies season 2 - "... Lying to protect someone she loves. That's what grownups do."

This was a much calmer season in comparison to the first one. After that big BANG in season's 1 ending, here we see how these characters continued with their life, their dramas and how they handled that life-changing event.

There is an important new character played by Meryl Streep, whose main goal will be to figure out what really happened. We just need to check the series name to realize this show's plots are all based on a lie.

In the first season, the tension was mostly caused by the main character's personalities, especially the ones played by Laura Dern and Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman was also important but as I mentioned in the first article, her character was mostly very passive, meaning she didn't cause too much trouble. In the second season, it will be Meryl Streep's character that will be the cause of tension throughout the entire season. She will be pretty much alone against the women from season 1.

As in season 1, there are some strong moments with Laura Dern losing her nerve. However, these were in relation to a subplot so the actual intensity wasn't as great as before. On the other hand, we can see how the events from season 1 are taking a toll on several characters. We will see some erratic decisions and a lost look in some characters.

Nicole Kidman's character will be in a process of reconstruction as she tries to maintain her strength and keep her normal life going on. Shailene Woodley's character will be far better off in this season, the drama completely focuses on other characters to the point of leaving her in a secondary role.

The kids are close to irrelevant in this season, which is a big difference because the main plot at the beginning of season one revolved around them. This time they are relegated and are mostly spectators of everything that happens.

It is a good continuation to the first season but it wasn't as good. Still, this is one of the best dramas available on TV so if you enjoy this genre you should certainly give this show a watch.

The best

• Meryl Streep is a good addition to the cast, giving a great performance in an important role.

The worst

• This season was mostly the calmer aftermath of last season's ending. It was less intense and intriguing.

Since I binge-watched the 2 seasons I was hearing the intro a lot of times over the past week and ended up liking it. Here is the intro of season 1 which is my favorite one, although both intros are almost the same.
