Opinion
Cobra Kai has returned and does it well, maintaining the same scheme as in the first season, or at least that I could see in this first episode.
The series takes up the story exactly at the point where the first season ended, with the reunion of John Kreese and Johnny Lawrence after many years, 30 specifically. In fact, Johnny thought that Kreese was dead, but as he can witness, that did not happen, now Kreese is more alive than ever. Daniel LaRusso with Johnny's son, Robby Keene, convert the reconstruction of Mr. Miyagi's old house into a training identical to the one taught to Daniel in the original film, Karate Kid. Samantha, Daniel's daughter, continues to be affected by her separation from Miguel Diaz, now champion of All Valley. While this happens Hawk and the rest of Johnny's disciples continue to strengthen the Dojo, Cobra Kai, who now has prestige after getting the first place in the tournament.
This episode shows basically how the bases of the rest of the season are established: Johnny correcting his mistakes and teaching his disciples to fight with honor, something that probably will not be well received by all, especially by Hawk, without mentioning that surely the presence of John Kreese will complicate things and disturb the Dojo with the excuse of redemption. Daniel recruiting people for his Dojo and looking to balance things.
In short, with this first episode the series resumes the story in a great way, without pretending to be more than it is, keeping everything light, without complications, there are no great dramas here, and any complication quickly becomes a reason for humor.
The style is preserved, the speech that ridicules the politically correct that the audience liked so much last season remains, and considering what I saw; the budget is still the same, and the effects quite vulgar, exactly as the followers of this series like.
I'll have to see more episodes to form a better opinion about it, something that will happen very soon, and after all this first episode only lasts 35 minutes, which is not much, so the episodes remain compact and dynamic, with an accelerated pace, equal to the first season.
When I finally see the rest of the episodes I will review the entire season, for the moment I can only say that this first episode is exactly what I was expecting.
