What is Steem Edit

Steem Edit runs on your desktop or laptop computer. It will work even if your internet connection goes down. Steem Edit allows you to post directly to the blockchain via Piston. The bad news is, you need to get Python 3 and Piston in order to use it.

Editing in Steem Edit

Steem Edit is WYSIWYG

With Steem Edit you never see the markdown code. You are only exposed to a word like interface, which shows you what your readers will see.

Steem Edit can do bold and italic print

yes bold and italic .

Steem Edit Has Headings

Steem Edit has three sizes of headings.

Steem Edit has Images

With Steem Edit you can add images as well.

Saving in Steem Edit

In Steem Edit you can save and load so you can suspend your post for the day. Even take the file to another machine for uploading.

Where to run it and get it

Whether you run Windows or Linux you may download it below. You will need to install piston for it to work, however.

Bugs in Steem Edit

I have created repositories for issue tracking. They are just for issues. Some users have accounts on github and some on source forge. You can reply here below if you have neither account. I found that on WIndows the user will get annoying popups about converting from Unicode. I am investigating that. Now, I can only do this on my spare time.

Future Directions

Perhaps, I will upload my source to sourceforge or keep this closed source. I got several likes and one 'thank you'.
I would like to be able to add images from the desktop computer rather than only being able to add a link. People that have an image hosting service please contact me [email protected]. hint hint @rolandp

The 'bad news" is a deal breaker.
I have no idea what piston or python is and I'm intimidated by the learning curve.

Thank you for your reply. I think it is an important issue. I am going to look for a way for it not to require Python.

or bundle it.... how is that coming along? Need any help?

Yes, I do. If you are interested I'll put it up on github. It has been only me so far so it's not up yet.

Sure post it could very well be the start of a full desktop client for all we know... I'll also check and see if anyone I know is also interested in using it or helping out.
