Growing up I was the same, sold my board to pay my next better board, wish I still had my first board though, I'm still searching for it.

    Funny I still have mine. My uncle shaped it. Its in the garage with its deck caved in and covered in dirty wax. Boards do have funny ways of getting back to you so here is hoping. I hear stories all the time!!!
