Spectacular Stained Glass Window.

in sevendaychallenge •  7 years ago  (edited)

This spectacular stained glass window is one of many featured in St David's Cathedral in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

I am submitting this image for the #SevenDaysOutside Challenge organized by @erikah
Today's theme is, 'Window Monday.'

The Cathedral is situated at the corner of Macquarie and Murray Streets in Hobart, Tasmania and this location is an area which is considered to be the finest Georgian Streetscape in Australia.

When Hobart was declared a city in 1842, the existing St.David’s Church became St. David’s Cathedral. The first foundation stone was laid for the original church February 9th, 1817. The church took a very long time to build but finally on the 9th January 1823, St. David’s church was consecrated.

Many thanks #teamnz 🐑

Beautiful!

Thank you.

This is a gorgeous stained glass window. Is the cathedral fairly new? (This century?) Because the window looks very modren in design.

Thank you @cecicastor for your visit and interest. I have added a few more details (in response to your question) but I am also intending on doing a couple of blogs at a later date about this wonderful cathedral as I have some interesting photos to share. Australia has many amazing buildings that have been heritage listed but as our history doesn't go too far back we cannot compare our history with the buildings of many older countries.

That is a stunning window!

I think so too @peggyhazelwood Wonderful workmanship and colours. Thanks very much for your visit and support.

Very fitting for Holy Thursday! @trudeehunter
Taking your stunning stain glass photography with me. Upv and Rsd

Very true @ninahsakin.....very appropriate. Many thanks for the kind share and vote. Have a blessed and enjoyable Easter my friend. 😊

You're welcome!

I love stained glass! Looks like I missed this :)

I do too Erika. These windows looked spectacular. I’m glad you like this image. 🌺

I love it! I have some myself but they were taken a long time ago and their quality is questionable.
