Well, I am just not getting my 7 days in a row, there is too much going on. The stray cow saga continues... Yesterday a couple of local ranchers got together to try to do something about it. No one knows who these cows belong to, or even who rented them the pasture that they broke out of. All week, these cows have been breaking into people yards, eating their hay, eating their pasture land. The old boys brought their cow dogs, if you big-screen this I THINK you can watch them work, that is why I took the video. Those cow dogs (Australian shepherds in this case) are amazing to watch.
This turned into an epic fuster cluck. As one gentleman calmly baled hay, a customer of his tried to bring a load of hay down the driveway just as the cows were head up it. I do not see the cows this morning, they must have finally gotten them rounded up but the guy in the white truck... Do not be him. If you see cows being herded toward you, STOP. Let the dogs get them past you. The cows broke off the drive, as the video shows. They busted out a corner of the pasture and took off back down the road. We watched for another half an hour, the cows were off and running in another person's yard. It is pretty messed up, these are working people with day jobs and they have to spend their evening doing this because of one incredibly irresponsible rancher out there.
So today, I am positively thrilled to have good neighbors with even better dogs!
THANK YOU for visiting my blog!

Oh wow! I'd be super grateful for those dogs as well! Those cows are just running rampant. I hope they figure out who is responsible for them soon.

aren't they supposed to have brands or tags or something?

They have brands, but 1. You have to be able to get close enough to see the brand and 2. You have to contact the Brand Inspector to ID it (which means calling the cow cops, we don't call cops around here, not on our neighbors. Google "Jack Yantis." and 3. That tells you who owns them, not where they are supposed to be. Someone out here leased them pasture, if we even knew who that was we would help return them to their pasture but no one wants to admit it is there responsibility...

lol I didn't even know they had cow cops. If they were trampling through my property I would call the cow cops in a second. Book em Besse!

Yeah, not around here. The cow cops bring the Sheriff, and we tried to get him ousted after the Jack Yantis thing. We do not, will not, give him the opportunity to come onto our land for any reason.

Hopefully, they find the idiot that is letting his cows run amok. Are they branded? Here they are supposed to brand them. He's lucky that no one shoots the cows (or at least one) and have a big ole neighbourhood BBQ!

They are branded, but I don't know the brand. To find out who owns them we have to call the Brand Inspector and file a report. After what happened to Jack Yantis, we just have a policy: We do NOT call cops on our neighbors. Our fence is fixed, we are just washing our hands of it at this point. Hope no one gets killed over it...
