This is my entry to #sevendaysoutside initiated by @erikah - #statuefriday.
I went to Antwerp, Belgium last year and came across this statue of a young boy and his dog. Apparently, the young boy Nello and his dog Patrasche are the characters from the 1872 novel 'A Dog of Flanders'.
Nello, a poor orphan boy, befriends Patrasche, a stray dog. Together they visit the cathedral to see the paintings of Rubens etc. Sadly, they both die together from hardship. The story is of unconditional friendship between a boy and his dog.
Thank you.
