A Canadian artist is commissioned by a local scientist to create a painting using refined human sewage, otherwise known as biosolids. Allen’s process is not only innovative but it also symbolizes environmental sustainability and opens up new avenues for environmental art.
Often deemed as taboo, this biosolid product is completely approved to be used on Canadian farms to grow food. If we can grow food in shit, we can certainly paint with it. Some people think it's gross and toxic, but I think it symbolizes forward sustainable thinking.
