- Sex ratio at birth is always a challenge for different countries and in INDIA it's huge.
By saying sex ratio at birth, I mean no. of child girls over 1000 child boys. - In some countries this ratio is more than 1 as a result of world war and all. But in Inda it's less than 1, i.e. 850 to 950 per 1000 boys in different states of INDIA
- The main reason for this being Dowry and more dominance was given to males.
- Today it's not the same as it was years ago but now also the ratio is not very impressive.
- 17 of 21 large stated recorded fall in SRB
- Some to name are Gujarat, haryana, uttarakhand, maharashtra.
- And there are some states which recorded rise in the ratio such as punjab, Uttarpradesh, Bihar.
- It's really ironic that the states which are considered more developed have poor SRB while those not considered developed have shown better SRB or increased compared to base year ratio.
