Like the title suggest, and my bio states, I will use steemit to share my approach and thoughts on how to get the most out of your team as manager of your team in Fantasy Premier League.
Hopefully I will be able to give insight to the steemians in the FPL-community, or atleast inspire people to discuss some of the premsises of the game, which we often ignore in our quest for glory in our mini-leagues.
By no means do I claim to have the answer or some sorts of FPL magic 8 ball or whatever, but 7 top50k placements atleast suggests Iv'e got somewhat of a clue as to what in doing.
First post will have its focus on one of the basics of the game:
Getting your money out on the field each round!
This might seem like a bit of a foolish thing to share, when the point allmost explains itself, but i see friends and managers, all seasoned veterans of the game, failing in this regard every year. The fact is: The budget you start with at the start of the season is the single most limiting aspect in regards to collecting points. Further the players are priced based on how the mods expect the players to perform, which ofcourse gives us the sound general rule of "pricey players earne more points".
This means that if you're constantly benching players who cost more than the bare minimum of each position, you'll end upp giving away loads of points in the longrun. This does not mean that i support having a team consisting of the lowestpriced benchfodder the game has to offer, that would be contrary to the point. Having a playing and healthy bench is definately also a key aspect of the game.
What im merely suggesting is that if you believe u've got what it takes to rotate slightly pricey players like 5.0 defender, 5.5 mids and 6.0 strikers, and still come out ahead, there might be a time for a realitycheck. I'm not saying this is impossible, but my guess is that it will eat away at your overall score and rank, because you'll be "handicapped" in regards to getting your money on the pitch, compared to those who are putting their money where it should be.
Another aspect in this regard one should take into consideration are the pricey players who are prone to be benched and rotated. This season has seen a lot of people putting their faith in players like Lacazette, Sane, Aguero, Jesus, Son, Martial, Willian, Ramsey, Mkhitaryan, Fabregas, and the list goes on... The point is that all these players, good as they might be, all are subject to rotation and being benched for different reasons. This creates a conundrum for managers, because it means that one has to take the probability of rotation in regards when deeming if the player is worthy of a place in your team or not. In almost all cases the healthy assesment of such a conundrum is by concluding with: NO, albeit there might be circumstances like important team injuries which might mitigate the circumstances for a YES. There's a great scenario of this happening right now given Gabriel Jesus has picked up a longterminjury, leaving Pep with only one true seasoned and competitive striking option in Aguero. Expect his stock too get a boost ;) Anyway, having pricey players be subject to the bench can be truly damaging on FPL as this will absolutely kill your team in the longrun. You'll ecperience a worldly difference in the money you're fielding vs the teams of your opponents not subject to cursed players.
Oh, and one last thing. Building team value early in the season helps a lot ofcourse :P
Don't expect to win any minileagues if youve got 2m less in true team vaule than your opponents!
