Shanti Stupa in Pokhara, also known as the World Peace Pagoda, is a stunning white stupa located on a hilltop overlooking the serene Phewa Lake and the majestic Annapurna mountain range. It was constructed as part of a worldwide network of peace pagodas, symbolizing peace, harmony, and unity among all nations.

The stupa was built by Buddhist monks from the Japanese Nipponzan Myohoji organization and was completed in 1999. Its serene location at an elevation of about 1,100 meters provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding natural beauty, including the Pokhara valley, the lush forests, and the towering Himalayan peaks such as Machapuchare (Fishtail).

The design of the stupa is simple yet elegant, with two tiers where visitors can walk around and offer prayers. On each tier, there are four statues of Buddha facing different directions, representing important phases of his life: birth, enlightenment, teaching, and death.

Visitors can reach Shanti Stupa by hiking from the lakeside, taking a boat across Phewa Lake followed by a short trek uphill, or driving via a nearby road. The tranquil and spiritual atmosphere of the stupa makes it a popular spot for both tourists and locals seeking peace, meditation, or simply to enjoy the scenic beauty of Pokhara.
