পাখিরা খুব আকর্ষণীয় হয়,তাদের মধ্যে শালিক অন্যতম। শালিক পাখির দেহ নানা রঙে আবৃত। এর চোখ, ঠোঁট,পাগুলো হলুদ,মাথাটা কালো, পুরো শরীরটা পুড়া মাটির রঙ আর পালক দুটোয় আছে হালকা সাদা। অনেকে শালিক পাখিকে সুখ দুখের প্রতীক বলে মনে করে। যেমন-দুটো শালিক দেখলে দিনটা ভালো যাবে,তিনটি দেখলে অশুভ কিছু আছে। শালিক পাখি এমনিতে অনেক শব্দ করলেও যখন পোষ মেনে যায় তখন শান্ত ভাবে থাকে। তবে বর্তমানে শালিক পাখি বিলুপ্তিরর পথে।
