The ray of sun shines through the window blinds of the room where Tola was sleeping. Oh my goodness! She exclaimed as he covered her face from sun entering her eyes. Immediately she gazed at the table clock besides her bed and alas it was already 7:45 in the morning. What a s**t! She said as she rushed out of the bed. Looking at the books scattered all over the places on the floor. She had been studying for the interview she'd be having the next morning. Without hesitation she made her way to the bathroom.
Hmm, looking inside her wardrobes are the lines of dresses from which to be chosen from. Now and again there's another hurdle she must cross. What type of dress is bet fit for the interview, the colour for the big occasion, and the shoes that go along with the dress? Hoooo, what am i to do she thought. Suddenly she looked at the wall clock in bed room and it was already 8'o clock. She picked her favorite coloured-dress. She reminded herself, hmm, lady blue.
Her interview is scheduled for 10 a.m and here she is at the hall waiting for her to be called in. She waited and there was no response, then she looked at her wrist watch. It was still 15 minutes to 10. What is going on she said to herself. Then she rose up to approach the secretary. Good morning ma'am she greeted. Hi! Good morning, how may I help you? The secretary responded. hem, hem she stuttered. Actually I am here for an interview. As a matter of fact I've been waiting to be called in for about twenty minutes now. Can you please tell me what is going on, Tola asked? Oh, interview? The secretary answered, without looking at Tola. There's a notice at the board behind you there, she pointed to the direction of the board. Go and read the instructions. Ookay! Tola replied slowly and she started walking to the board.
This is to notify all the candidates for the interview that the board of this able organization has decided to screen out automatically any candidate that comes in any time later than 8 a.m, she read. She grinned after reading the notice. However, she encouraged herself to go inside the interview room and try her luck. Then she paused along, what if I'm embarrassed! Let me give it a try, she summoned and entered.
Surprisingly, she saw the entire interviewers gazing at her as she was walking towards the panels. Then she looked up and smiled. Good morning sirs and mas she greeted, still smiling. The members of the panels were all smiling looking at how she comported herself, even though she was burning inside.
Yes, lady, how can we be of help? The chairman asked the members of the panel. Thank you sir, she replied, trying to be cautious now but with better composure. I'm here for the interview sir. Sit down! The chairman said as he pointed her to a certain direction. Tola could not belief her ears what she heard but she managed to sit. Suddenly the chairman snapped, what is your name and is your C.V. here? Yeeeesss sss sir, she stammered. My name is Adetola Smith Olajumoke. I have s..e...nt my C.V here sir. She replied sweating profusely. The chairman did not say anything rather he stated looking at the pieces of paper on his table. Then he picked up his intercom and put it back after speaking to someone. Then the chairman asked, miss Adetola Smith, right? You are right sir replied Tola. Did you not see the notice on the board and what audacity has you to come in here. That was when Tola thought she's in hot water. However she pulls herself together to reply. I saw the notice sir but at the same time the message on my mobile phone says I should come for the interview by 10 and make sure I got the result before i take my leave which is why I took courage to come in. She replied looking at the countenance of every member of the panels. She was happy with what she saw nevertheless, she could not unfold the mystery of what is happening. Probably, they were just mocking her. Miss Smith said the chairman snappily, welcome to the Silicon groups of company. Kindly see the secretary on your way out to collect your employment letter. Once again you are welcome to this amiable company. We are looking forward to work with you and we believe that your courage shall take this great company to greater places. Tola could not believe her ears what they were hearing.
However, she managed to rise on her feet to walk out of the the board room. She could still hear the optimistic conversations of the board members about her as she closed the door behind her. Congratulations miss!!! Exclaimed the secretary as she handed the employment letter over to Tola. Thank you ma’am. Tola replied with as she smiled. She took the letter with great enthusiasm, opened it and only for her to hear a knock on the door. Tola cried the person at the door step. Won't you wake up. Have you forgotten you have an interview this morning cried her mother. It was then Tola realised it ###was all a dream###.
