After anonymous developer Shytoshi Kusama updated his status on Twitter with a puzzling remark, the Shiba Inu community is ablaze with theories. Kusama stated, "On the 1st day...my real love gave to me," confounding his neighborhood. The developer also changed the status of his location to "Close."
This signals that a fresh release could be approaching. The Shiba Inu team is allegedly preparing to launch Shibarium, a Layer 2 solution for the meme cryptocurrency, according to several members of the community.
Ryoshi, the meme cryptocurrency's unknown founder, first put forth the solution in May 2021. Shibarium will enable both fee reduction and transaction speedup. The release date, which appears to be January 1, 2023, may be hinted to in the status message.
Given that Shibarium is still being developed and there is no set release date, one should take this rumor with a grain of salt. Shibarium's public beta testing is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2022, according to a report by U.Today from the Unification Foundation, a company participating in its creation. This wasn't the case, though, which led many in the Shiba Inu community to inquire about the state of development.
Kusama has been promising the neighborhood that SHIB would arrive "soon" but has refused to give a firm date. Kusama hasn't posted anything on Twitter in almost a month. He recently suggested a prospective partnership with the World Economic Forum (WEF) in one of his tweets.
