In the week leading to the impending release of Nocturne's HD remaster Gamerant released not one, but TWO, new articles on Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne both by the same author; the very same one who wrote the article that I previously talked about that basically argued that Shin Megami Tensei should be more like Persona, over its own thing. Frankly speaking the article argued for style over substance approach to a game series about subjective morality. SMT titles feature you as the protagonist thrust into a situation that require difficult decisions and choices in order to survive until tomorrow and provokes interesting and nuanced discussions from what the game asks its players. The writer of this article seemed to have missed that interpretation and instead narrowed down on the improvements/mechanics of Persona 5, and gave the impression of ignorance in what each game was by presenting questionable, if not baffling, points in the argument, that left a poor impression of their grasp on what SMT is as a series.
Unlike that article where I read the article and than summerized my opinion this time I am going in completely blind and than retorting or consenting to the points as they come up in the respective two articles. If that sounds interesting than links to the videos doing so, as well as the original articles are below.
