This was a Portuguese ship that departed from Lisbon in 1533. For centuries, its fate remained unknown until its remains were discovered in the Namibian desert during diamond mining near the coast.
Boom Jesus turned out to be an intriguing and highly valuable discovery: it contained many Spanish and Portuguese gold coins (which helped identify the ship), nearly two thousand German copper bars, and over 100 elephant tusks. Experts estimate the total value of all the assets to be 13 million dollars.
The ship, lost 500 years ago, which was found in the African desert with gold coins, has become one of the most fascinating archaeological discoveries of recent years.
