Infection? I go to an online random word generator to get a seed word for a freewrite, and it gives me infection? What the hell am I supposed to do with that? Make it Steem-related and smarmy at the same time and talk about how the infection of bidbots is being killed off, allowing our toddler blockchain to recover from the near-death experience of #oldsteem? Bore people with a semi-biographical vignette about a kid who lived down the block from me who got an infection that led to the amputation of his left thumb after he drunkenly fell on a rock that a cow pie had landed on? Fifty years later, that poor bastard is still trying to come up with a better story to explain away his missing thumb.

But even if I say screw it and have it generate another word, it would probably give me something like discuss or eliminate or bubble and, come on, who could use one of those to write a story that they wouldn’t be ashamed to publish using an alt account, let alone their main one?

Did Shakespeare ever have to put up with lame-ass random word generators? Hell no! He could just pull any book off his shelf and stick a finger into it at random page and find a hath or doth or thine and he was already putting quill to ink writing something that was destined to be translated into High Valyrian by some nerd four centuries later.

Maybe I was born four centuries too late. I could have been a real writer back then. Even get my stuff published when that actually meant something. Instead, I’m stuck here with random word generators. Okay, okay, one more try.

Lamp.

Oh, just shoot me now.

A random word generator is actually quite an interesting way to kick off a freewrite. It'd never occurred to me :)
