Mad Mind

Sitting still, glassing the horizon for my prey. keeping my breath in check so I’m not heard. Back country is the best gift God has given the world. Not touched by man, not destroyed by the touch of greed of humanit. I noticed movement a big elk stand atop the valley. Showing his dominance in the new area, he moves slow to bottom to get to a watering spot.  I move rushing to meet the massive animal at the site. I make sure I’m moving yet go as  quiet as possible.Check wind while I’m going. Hoping he doesn’t smell me, trying to leave no trace of my existence. I move to edge of tree line at bottom.  He beat me, he was stunning beast. He was old bull, I waited for an opportunity to take shot. Slow draw the bow to full lnight. Stopping, both of us looking for the noise that stopped us in our tracks. Looking toward a massive monster standing on its  hind legs. It stood at 9 feet and above It looked at its next meal drooling from bloodlus. The Elk stood still hoping it didn’t see it. Hearts racing, two from shock and one from thirst of its prey. I’m wishing it wasnt going to notice me, but my experience with  predators they see and smell everything.  They don’t stop till they get their kill when they are like this. To be continued
