Parked in the outskirts of town, deep in the woods, in a long deserted and decrepit property, he sits in his modified car. This car doesn't have a name, its a combination of parts of different automobile brands. This car is powerful, it is the love of his life! He fondly calls her Mayfly.
He sits there staring out the windshield listening to the police scanner.
"A successful bank robbery has been reported on Meadow Bank. The suspects are making a getaway in a blue van, units, please respond.".
That's all he needed to hear. Pushing the start button, shifting gears lightening fast, he puts the car in drive, he revs the car hard. Accelerating power being greater than the mass of the car lifts the front end of the car as he goes after the criminals.
Meadow Bank is on Gaythorn Road, a not so busy road that runs for miles
"Well, this ought to be easy" he says out loud to himself.
The police in Harcourt City are too lazy and the criminals know it, they will get away with the the money. No! That won't happen. Not on his watch!! Starting from now
With the aid of a shortcut discovered by studying the city's map some two weeks ago, he arrives on Gaythorn Road in record time, picking up speed as he drives by Meadow Bank.
The speedometer read 205km/h and was still rising. In a minute he spots the blue van billowing smoke out the exhaust.
"The van is not even in a good condition!!"
The police were lazy and the criminals were rubbing it in. He took it as a personal insult. Containing his anger, he drives up to the van, lowering his speed to match theirs. Picking up his microphone, he orders the driver and his partners to pull over. They just gave him the finger. Smiling to himself he accelerates, driving so fast he keeps a distance of a hundred and fifty meters or so with the van under ten seconds.
Making a clean U-turn and not breaking speed he accelerates to the van. Smiling wickedly , as he says to himself
"Y'all aint gonna like this, I hope you're all using seat belts".
On approaching the van, he fish tails just in time to slam the heavy boot of Mayfly to the side of the van. The force of the collision is very strong the van has no choice but to topple over at high speed.
Smiling satisfactorily, he watches the van topple
"Broken arms".
It topples the second time
"Broken legs"
Toppling the third time
"Concussions and broken ribs"
The fourth time, he laughs and puts the car in drive and zooms off, looking in his rear view mirror to see the police coming.
"About time, lazy bones" he says to mirror.
The police seeing the toppled van and the fleeing car puts the two together and sends a unit after him. He hears this over the police radio and sighs.
"You guys don't want to play this game with me." He kept speeding.
"On a second thought, what's to stop me from having a little fun" he laughs slowing down so the police catches up to him ordering him over their radio to stop the car.
"Make me" he mumbles, picking up speed a little.
The police not in the mood for a high speed pursuit tries to do a PIT maneuver on him but he accelerates just in time so they miss him.
He hears over the radio the police calling for back up.
"That aint happening" as he steps on his brakes.
The sound of metal on metal is so deafening the surrounding wildlife is startled. But he isn't worried, his car was fine, he had installed strong bumpers on both ends of his car for purposes such as these. The police car on the other hand was totalled although the police was not hurt.
"Nice! See ya buddy".
Accelerating fast, he disappears at the next bend on the road.
He hated it when criminals think they could get away with crime. Even more was his hatred for the lazy police of Harcourt City. This was the first of many successes in his alter ego crime fighting career, which he attributed to Mayfly and his superfluous driving skills. He is clean. He is neat and he is efficient. He makes the police in Harcourt City even more lax. They only come to pick up the crumbs. They've learned too quickly not to get in the way when he worked. He had earned a reputation with both the criminals and the police.
No body knows who he is although he has been at this for two years now. Some call him Harbinger of Doom, others just call him Saviour.
He hates crime, and is merciless to those who indulge in it, especially on the road. Watch out, he is out to get you who thinks you can get away with that robbery, theft or burglary.
He is Vaughn Flexor. But he calls himself Flex.
