The Bangladeshi short film, "City of Light," has been honored with the prestigious 'Hrithik Ghatak Silver Award' at the sixth South Asian Short Film Festival organized by the Federation of Film Societies of India. Directed by Shahadat Russell, the film distinguished itself among the selected short films and documentaries presented during the five-day event held at Kolkata's Nandan. Expressing his joy and gratitude, director Shahadat Russell shared that each award not only serves as inspiration for future projects but also instills a sense of responsibility to strive for greater excellence. He took immense pride in receiving an award named after the esteemed Hrithik Ghatak. Russell attributed the success of the film to the collective efforts of the entire team, including the producers, artists, and those who believed in him.
"City of Light" presents a captivating storyline that exposes the often overlooked, darker aspects of urban life in Bengal, particularly the struggles faced by marginalized women. The film features notable actors such as Nafis Ahmed, Manisa Orchy, and Sharmin Orpi, among others.
