Here's Johnny!

It's no custom made lightsaber, but it's still pretty damn cool! Been meaning to get around to posting something for the show and tell tag which @saywha thought up, and today being a nice thunderstorm filled day where there's nothing to do (And, I'm feeling pretty cruddy health wise, so no game review tonight.) I figured I should finally get off my ass and post something for it! What I'm sharing today is my favorite piece of art that I won, and I actually believe it was the very first one I bought (So long as we're not counting posters). It's a tribute piece that uses mixed media from one of my favorite horror movies, The Shining. I have been absolutely in love with the film since my first showing, and I can't even tell you how many times I've watched it at this point. It has some of the best performances in the horror movie genre, and sports some hauntingly, beautiful cinematography surrounding a man's decent into madness and isolation.

The blood trickle, Redrum, keyhole and of course the center piece featuring Jack were all painted using acrylic paint.
Good old Jack is painted on a 5x7 inch piece of wood which was then placed in the center of the larger outer frame which is 14x12 inches. They doorknob is an actual doorknob with a keyring attached to the painted portion of the handle. It's not quite 3D art, but it could be considered to be in a similar vein I suppose, and it just looks plain freaking awesome at the very least. I purchased this about 2 years ago, and it has definitely helped get me addicted to buying art when I can afford it, as well as weirded a few people out who've come into my bedroom and saw it. It is by far one of my favorite possessions, and I'll keep it up proudly on my walls until the day I'm dead. (Hopefully not from an axe murdering maniac though...)
