Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 and 70-200mm F2.8: corrective firmware available

in sigma •  6 years ago

The manufacturer issued an significant alert for two Sigma lenses concerning certain particular serial numbers. In particular, in the versions with Sigma, Canon EF and Nikon F, we are talking about the Sigma model 60-600 mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports and Sigma 70-200 mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Sports.

The Sigma targets concerned are those with serial number 53824160 or earlier (for 60-600 mm) or earlier (for 70-200 mm) or 53846990. According to reports, it will stop working correctly when you press the shutter button on the camera.

A firmware is ready to fix the problem for both Sigma 60-600 mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports and Sigma 70-200 mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Sports. The supplier claims, however, that it will not be updated through the USB dock, but customers with objectives engaged in the recall must contact an approved seller / distributor.

New updated lots are on sale for both Sigma lenses. For those who decide to buy them in the future, they only need to make sure they receive a black stamped product as shown in the above figure (in which case the update is not necessary).

Users who do not encounter the problem will not necessarily have to resort to assistance, but the service will still be offered free of charge if it occurs in the future, within the warranty period.
