#SilverTorch66 presents a new mini series of videos discussing my top 5 silver stacking choices. The subject of this video is my “Silver Stacking Top 5 Bullion to Flip!”
So, very briefly, what is flipping? Flipping is the process by which you choose a particular #bullion item to buy with the intent of selling in the secondary market for a profit!
Sounds easy, right? Well…… maybe not so much.
First you really need to know market trends and what will be desirable for buyers in a near term market which is usually measured in weeks or months.
Flipping #silver bullion can be very risky if you........ choose poorly......... and you will probably never be unable to recover the premiums you paid when you purchased it.
But if the bullion you choose to flip.......you choose wisely......then you will have immortality and live forever……no wait that’s not right! You will most likely make a tidy profit!
In order to accomplish this, you need to do lots of research, identify demand trending patterns, have magical intuitive powers and definitely know when to get off the train! There can often be a point of diminishing return which has to be factored into your strategy. And that's not always easy to discern!
So here is my Top 5 list of the bullion I will be flipping in the near term secondary market.
Number one is the 2017 Australian 1oz Silver Swan
This magnificent coin is from the Perth Mint which has a long track record of producing coins that appreciate in value, like the Kooks, the Koalas, and their Lunar series.
This coin is the inaugural release of what is expected to be an annual series of 1 oz limited mintage Silver Swan bullion coins with a changing design each year. It has an extremely limited mintage, of only 25,000 pieces available worldwide. It's struck from four nines fine #silver and individual coins come housed in acrylic capsules.
When this coin hit the open market, it vaporized in hours! That was one big indicator that convinced me that this coin could be a winner! Also, anytime there is a first in a series that becomes successful, historically that first design in the series usually appreciates very well! When subsequent coins come out and more and more folks decide they want to collect the series they will usually pay handsomely for the first edition coin they didn’t get! And finally, it’s just a beautiful coin to look at!
Next on my list is the Chiwoo Cheonwang Medallion from South Korea. This medallion with a limited mintage of only 30k has some real potential. This is a first in a series by the KOMSCO mint which is Korea's official government mint. This series will also have varying designs with each release, enhancing the series collect-ability. This is a very unique first for South Korea as they are just starting to see the potential of precious metals. The country recently established a gold trading market in 2014 and two years later have released their first #bullion product for worldwide distribution. I think getting in on the ground floor with a new player in the minting game will prove to be a wise decision!
My number three, believe it or not, is 90% constitutional silver. You can still find these pre-1965 coins very close to spot and flipping these coins individually or in small groups has always been a profitable experience for me! You can coin roll hunt and literally get silver for the face value of the coin itself. You can’t beat that! I find that if your LCS won’t budge on their prices, then ask them to throw in some constitutional coins and I’ll bet it happens! Everyone just looks past the old coinage to gaze at the shiny new Panda that was just released. Pre-65' coins are probably the most undervalued silver available to a stacker! So, I always try to take advantage and grab it when I can and flip it for a nice profit
Number four on my list is the 2015 1oz Australian Silver Kangaroo!
If you will remember …. the Perth Mint gave exclusive distribution rights for the entire 300k mintage to Bay Precious Metals who chose to sit on them until after the Perth Mint released the 2016 Roos! They used the Perth Mints worldwide advertising clout to create a frenzy for the 2016 first BU grade Kangaroo bullion coin ever made by the Perth Mint. This was how the Perth Mint advertised it when 2016 Roos hit the streets! Then a couple of months into the 2016 release, Bay Precious Metals releases their exclusive 2015 Roos! So, everybody who thought they were buying the first in a series and stocked up on the 2016 Roo, turned out to have a second issue coin with an unlimited mintage that turned out to be over 11 million ( 11,245,615) pieces. A lot of people spent money buying extra of what they thought was a first edition, only to see a 2015 Roo hit the market with a mintage of only 300K! An example of very unethical business practices in my opinion!
None the less, with the success of selling over 11 million 2016 coins, I have to believe that the 2015’s are going to appreciate at some point down the road! I’m thinking in about two more years! Let’s see what the 2017’s and 2018’s final montages turn out to be and if they end up anywhere close to 11 mil each. I feel the 2015 Roo's just might be worth something!
My final selection for flipping is the Chris Duane Silver Shield Collection and his Micro mintage series in both the BU and Proof grades.
I have found that Silver Shield rounds not only hold their premium, but command amazing profits on the secondary markets. Heidi Wastweet and Chris Duane are working together to produced quality, innovative and thought provoking silver rounds. They are reasonably priced and due to limited mintage's provides a demand market that makes them appreciate in value.
To sum things up…….
My top 5 Bullion choices to flip are……
#1 The 2017 Australian 1oz Silver Swan
#2 The Ciwoo Cheonwang 1oz Silver Medallion from South Korea
#3 Constitutional Silver as individual coins or in small groups
#4 2015 1oz Australian Silver Kangaroo
And Finally, the
#5 Chris Duane Silver Shield Collection and his Micro mintage series
This top 5 list is based on my stacking strategies and goals and may not necessarily be right for you. I only hope that my explanations for my choices are able to resonate with you to assist you in deciding which flipping bullion is best for your stack.
