Afternoon everyone …
I believe it was seven years ago now that this series began again. It was a Provident Metals exclusive. They were originally struck by the Elemetal Mint.
But they were shut down and so was this series.
The first two ounce high relief round of the Egyptian Gods series was Cleopatra. Because it was the first of the series. Provident Metals put a 30 day limit on orders. Whatever was ordered and paid for in those 30 days is all that exist. I believe the final mintage was just over 38,000 rounds.
That is how Provident Metals did each release 30 days that’s it.
Now seven years later they have continued the series.
But this is the round that started it all…
The reason for this post is that they have just released the final round of the series. I initially missed out on this series. I don’t know why or how I missed it but I did. I ended up buying the round above on the secondary market and paid a hefty premium for it.
The final round is Ra. Some of you might be asking who is Ra? So I’m going to give you the information and write up directly from the Provident Metals website:
Obverse
The obverse side of the 2 oz Silver Ra Round features Ra in his human form, depicted aboard his solar boat. As he crosses the sky, Ras journey represents the daily cycle of life and renewal. Above him is the Eye of Horus, a symbol of protection and healing, further emphasizing his divine authority and connection to order.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2 oz Silver Ra Rounds, the design highlights the enduring symbols of ancient Egypt. A grand pyramid rises in the background, while a winged scarab beetlerepresenting transformation and rebirthappears in the foreground. Hieroglyphic-style text at the bottom details the weight, purity, and metal content of the round.
History
Ra, the sun god, was central to ancient Egyptian beliefs. Known as the creator of life, Ra was believed to have emerged from the waters of chaos to shape the world and create humanity from his tears. Over centuries, Ras role expanded, blending with other deities like Amun to form Amun-Ra, a powerful figure symbolizing creation and kingship.
All of these rounds are ultra high relief and the designs have been outstanding in my opinion.
Here is what the new round looks like…..
