The daily reward pool is a fixed amount, and Steemit, inc. doesn't want to take money out of that amount. With this option, other authors will get a bit more.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
