A Rumination on Sin
Sin fractures the soul
A piece breaks off
Every time
The idolater in you is sent back
To learn to love God
The blasphemer in you is sent back
To learn the power words have
The one in you who forgets what is Holy
Is sent back to remember it’s divinity
The dishonorer in you is sent back
To learn to respect elders
The murderer in you is sent back
To learn to cherish life
The adulterer in you is sent back
To learn faithfulness
The thief in you is sent back
To learn boundaries
The liar in you is sent back
To learn the value of honesty
The one who covets in you is sent back
To learn to be content
How many pieces
Must you lose
In order to learn
Who you truly are?
You are none of these things
You are not your sin
That is just the shell
That binds you in this place
You are virtue
Made manifest
And it is about time
You lived like it
“The price of freedom is virtue.”
~ James C.
Time to live
Like you are free
