Hi Steemers,
A few weeks ago, my wife and I visited a neat Italian place at Tanjong Pagar, called Pasta Brava (check out its location here - https://tinyurl.com/y7jhkv5w).
The place had an interesting atmosphere. It felt more inviting and had something of a 'home-ish' quality, which I liked. It went very well with the home-style food (I think) that they served. We went on a Friday, and the place was packed by about 6:30.
We started off with some marinated olives, bruchetta, and burratta cheese. Actually, we weren't planning on ordering the cheese, but we were very easily persuaded into getting one, thinking it would be a pretty small portion (as you can see, it was not). It was good, but you should probably get it only if you have three or more people. Also, it turns out that burratta cheese is quite expensive (the cheese alone was $40--one of the most expensive items that we ordered).
All of the antipasti items were quite good though. They went very well with a red wine and facilitated conversation.
Speaking of wine, we went in thinking that a glass would be too little alcohol (after a week of working!) but getting an entire bottle might be a bit too much. Luckily, they had a carafe, which was about a quarter of a standard bottle (about 500 liters, I believe). We got a cabernet sauvignon because they ran out of the red wine of the month. It was very good though. Very smooth!
For the main dish, we got a gamberi e capesante and a lasagna. We were both very full at this point, but we managed to finish them. They were very good but also a bit different from pasta that I'm used to getting from other places. They tasted a bit more authentic. But please don't take my word for it. I really don't know much about food.
The whole meal cost about $180. It's not cheap, but hey, this is Singapore. We had a great experience here, and I would definitely recommend this place to my fellow Steemers in the lion city.
