Manchester United's legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, was urgently received in a hospital, media reported on the island. The 76-year-old Scot was hospitalized this morning with a brain hemorrhage and was already in surgery. The information was confirmed by the club itself.

Ferguson felt bad yesterday, and this morning an ambulance had been called to his home to take him to Salford Royal Hospital.

The operation has passed successfully and Sir Alex's current state is stable, but he needs a period of intensive care to recover completely, says United's official announcement.

Because of Ferguson's worsened health condition, his son Darren, the manager of Doncaster Rovers, missed today's match against Wigan in the last round of League One.

Sir Alex Ferguson is Manchester's most successful manager in the history of Manchester United. He won 13 championship titles at the top of the team for 26 years and retired in 2013.

On April 29, he handed a plaque to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who also retired at the end of the season after 22 years at the helm of the artillery. This happened during the match between the "balls" and the "red devils" who won 2: 1 at their Old Trafford.
