You May Be Doing Drugs By Using These Everyday Things!

We think that drugs are not that easy to get legally - right?
Well, I have found this interesting list of everyday things that can actually get you high or drunk!

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizers are very useful, especially when you carry them around if you're on the go.
But it has been shown that these sanitizers can cause intoxication - and lead to a positive result on an alcohol test.
They contain about 60-65% of Ethyl Alcohol, which is a lot more than wine, beer or other alcoholic drinks.
A study has shown that people who applied hand sanitizer multiple times during the day were tested positive for alcohol in urine.

Allergy Pills

Allergy Pills are used to prevent symptoms like sneezing or a stuffy nose.
But some Allergy Pills actually contain Diphenhydramine, which can lead to a "high" with hallucinations, dizziness, sedation and more when taken in large doses.
It can also lead to a state between dreaming and reality.

Chilli Peppers

What makes chilli peppers hot is the chemical Capsaicin, which is responsible for the burning sensation.
After eating a chilli pepper, this capsaicin makes the brain release endorphins to block the heat.
This leads to a feeling of euphoria! (If consumed in large doses).
Scientists even report that there have been some case where people experienced mild hallucinations after consuming large amounts of capsaicin.

Nutmeg

Nutmeg is a spice that's used for many dishes or hot drinks.
But actually, if you consume large amounts of nutmeg it can lead to a psychedelic experience.
Nutmeg contains myristicin, a psychoactive compound with similar effects to LSD.
While many people have used this as a cheap method to get high, they will experience nausea, vomiting and diarrhea about 1 hour after consumption.

Permanent Markers

Everybody knows the strong smell that permanent markers have - some love it, some hate it.
Scientists have proven that inhaling a lot of these fumes can lead to psychoactive experiences.
At first, the user will feel euphoric, dreamy and confused at first, but after about 45min. the negative side effects, for example nausea, start to show.
Long term use of this method to get high can result in permanent damage to vital organs.

Vanilla Extract

Vanilla Extract is a popular ingredient in baking.
But did you know that Vanilla Extract actually contains about 35-40% of Ethanol?
This is quite similar to Vodka, which has about 40% Ethanol Alcohol as well.
A woman in Georgia has actually been arrested for DUI because she was drunk after drinking a bottle of Vanilla Extract.

Wow! Didn't know. ☆☆☆☆☆😎

We learn something new everyday! :)

For sure!

I think the nutmeg shocked me the most - similar effects like LSD from such an ordinary spice! wow

The diarrhea scares me from trying it. I never want to poop myself while hallucinating.

Yes it definitely seems like the negative side effects overweigh the benefits, which is why this hasn't really become a popular drug.
What's the point if you feel high for 1 hour, but after that feel horrible the rest of the day.

You can trip on morning glory's to! Wouldn't recommend it though.

Unless you like tummy aches, that is ;)

Interesting! Didn't know that.
Crazy how so many regular plants we see everyday can actually cause psychedelic experiences.

there are over 600 plants that have psychoactive properties! its crazy!

great post! add sugar and caffeine to the list! ;)

Caffeine sure, but sugar (glucose) is a vital fuel for your cells, particularly the brain: no glucose, no life.
Of course it's very easy to eat too much sugar considering modern foods and diets. But I don't think you can classify it as a "drug".

Yes I agree, but funny enough sugar was actually listed in a video about this topic that I watched too. The reason why is that some studies say that sugar is as addictive as cocaine, and the whole point of that video was to surprise people with facts that everyday things can function like drugs inside the body.
But I didn't add it to my post here, because I agree with your opinion that it's a vital part of life and doesn't really count as a drug.

True! Caffeine is the world's most popular legal drug!

Why would somebody drink a bottle of vanilla extract?

To get wasted...duh!

;)

Have you tasted vanilla extract, who could drink a whole bottle of that (I know they are small but even then)?

I actually thought the same thing! Vanilla extract is great when added to baked goods, but if you taste it on its own it's actually horrible. Must be because of the high alcohol contents then!

Wow, fun things to know!
Who would drink a whole bottle of vanilla extract though? :o

Indeed, if you eat a TON of nutmeg you can end up having a trip where you see odd colors.

Nearly everything can work a a drug if you overdue it.
That's why people need to accept that u can use them to
improve your life! You can also fuck it up and get addicted, but i think
the policy that all drugs are bad is just increasing the abuse, especially for the youth.
