Hi Everyone,

Thumb2.jpg

We have now reached the voting stage of Challenge 2. Steemians now have the opportunity to vote for the winner of Challenge 2 of the Spectrum Economics 6 Week Challenge.

For Challenge 2 we have six entries, that’s two more than Challenge 1, thanks for the effort guys. The entrants are as follows:

Quick recap of the challenge

For Challenge 2, participants were required to write a post explaining how they gain value out of there life. Participants were given the freedom to discuss literately anything they felt added value to their life. They were given the freedom to discuss enjoyment on a daily basis, weekly basis, or even special events that they have attended. Participants were also required to discuss how money has or has not played a role in adding value to their life as well as other factors that have played a significant role in adding value. Participants have been recommended to apply economics to their recommendations but at the same time advised to explain using terminology easy for the everyday reader to understand.

What have our participants proposed?

Let’s start with @blackempror. @blackempror has provided a very long detailed response to this challenge. Thank you very much for putting so much effort in. I will do my best to bring out the key points.

@blackempror believes there are 5 principles to having a fascinating and exciting life. Based on the title of the post as well as looking through the content, I think 31 were listed. Here are just a few of those I found interesting:

  • Enjoy nice moments that don’t require money
  • Learn to master an ability
  • Have a hobby
  • Travel alone
  • Declutter and become more organised
  • Write down your vision, dream, and your goals
  • Be within the moment

Our next participant is @toyinbaruba. @toyinbaruba includes a few interesting quotes from Einstein and Rohn. @toyinbaruba provides twelve ways of improving your value. They are as follows:

  1. Expertise: Study your trade, learn from your competitors.
  2. Productivity: What and the way a lot of you get done.
  3. Efficiency: however you get done what you get done.
  4. Multiplication: obtaining things done by suggests that aside from labour.
  5. Influence: What you'll persuade others to induce done.
  6. Celebrity Status: however well you are well-known by your target market.
  7. Reputation: What others apprehend and accept you.
  8. Vision: What you see that others don’t.
  9. Personality: however you treat others and the way well you connect.
  10. Attitude: Your perspective towards yourself and towards others.
  11. Awareness: Knowing your strengths and what you’re the simplest at.
  12. Masterminding: close yourself with those you'll learn from.

@toyinababruba’s post is mostly focused around career success rather than adding value to your life and lifestyle. This is a different take on the question but I believe still adds value.

Our next participant is @the-fundraiser. @the-fundraiser has an interesting thumbnail of a man fishing from on top of his Lamborghini. If you think this sets the stage to @the-fundraiser’s approach to achieving life fulfilment, you are wrong. @the-fundraiser focuses more on the aspects of life that require less money or no money. @the-fundraiser makes a point that we should not pay too much attention to what others think or expect of us.

I find the post contains quite a few platitudes and has very few real life examples. I still appreciate the effort put in by the @the-fundraiser

Our next participant is @luisveco88. @luisveco88’s entry is reasonably short but gets straight to the point about what we can do and how we can go about making the most of our lives. @luisveco88 makes a very good point about money having utility but yet should not be treated as the only important determinant of happiness. @luisveco88 provides examples of enjoying life on holiday, with family and friends as well as appreciating food. I appreciate @luisveco88’s effort to closely address the requirements of the challenge.

  • Doing what you love the most.

  • Engage in a challenging activity with a commitment to mastering.

How to vote

The winner will be decided by votes placed in the comments section; the post that receives the most votes wins. I initially stated that the winner will receive 10 SBD and second place will receive 5 SBD, I have changed this to 6 SBD and 3 SBD respectively. Don’t worry, the overall prize money is still 25 SBD, I have added the 6 SBD I deducted from these prizes to the Spectrum Economics favourite post award. The reason for this change is that many of the voters are not particularly literature in economics and therefore should have less responsibility in determining prize money allocation (this is based on my experience from Round 1). So here is a quick refresh of the how the prize money will be allocated.

  • Top post based on votes wins 6 SBD
  • Second post based on votes wins 3 SBD
  • Spectrum Economics favourite post wins 16 SBD.

To vote, enter the entrant’s number in the comments section. The entrant’s numbers are as followers.

I expect voting to be based on the quality of the post and ability to address the criteria of the challenge post. Each vote will also be rewarded with a very small upvote.

I would like to thank all the participants for their effort spent putting these posts together. May the best posts win.

Excuse me sir. I noticed you changed your vote from Entrant 4 to Entrant 3. Would you mind explaining why you changed your mind. Thank you.

I think I have the right to vote the best entrant of all. So I don't think you are in the position to question me.

You have the right to vote for the entrant of your choice. You choose Entrant 4 and now you have chosen Entrant 3. My question, is why did you change your vote?

As I have said I have the right to change it....... I read the articles again and decided to change it to the best of all.
