International sport events are complex events, need organizing and planning in advance in order for everything to go smoothly. And even so, sometimes accidents and mistakes happen. Some are funny and insignificant, others are embarrassing and maybe insulting as well.
The last one happened a the women’s award ceremony at the figure skating Gran Prix in France, where medals or maybe winners were mixed up.

The gold medal was given to a US skater by mistake instead of the Russian skater. The local official made a mistake, mixing up the medals but it wasn't a big deal as the girls were amused, they had a lot of fun, were even laughing during the ceremony which is against rules. The fault was of Christophe Ferrari, who is the president of the Grenoble metropolitan area. He was a guest at the award ceremony, invited to hand over the medals but he had little or none experience and made a mistake.
This wasn't such a big deal in my humble opinion as I've seen bigger ones over the years. There were cases when the flag of the winning country was missing or another time there was the wrong flag, the previous flag, not the actual one. Other times the anthem of the winning country was mistaken with another one.
As I said, some of these mistakes are funny and no one get offended but some are quite stupid and disrespectful. Organizers should pay more attention to details in order to avoid these mistakes.
