SketchCrazed – surreal, lurid, unzipped

SketchCrazed is an opportunity for me to share the very strange drawings I do. The common thread is in the attempt to explore new relationships of form, contrast, and pattern, and to see where they take me.

Cambodian Mermaid

This drawing was made of the sacred headwaters of Chup Preah at Phnom Kulen that feeds Angkor, in the Cambodian mountains. It is known as the river of a thousand lingas because of the spectacularly carved riverbed there. We drove up a winding road to the top, where I followed a muddy path to a shrine with many flowers and much incense burning.

There is a temple there at the highest point on the mountain with an enormous golden reclining Buddha in it. From there you can see out over the forested mountains and down over the steep-roofed buildings making up this little village. Those lingams are carved into the stream bottom to insure the water continues to provide for life.

Thank you @slothicorn

I like it has a touch astracto, greetings!

Thanks @ferarevalo147. I think it would be an easy step to go completely abstract. But I do like to keep things recognizable too, like the bamboo trees. This is a comfortable mix of both to me.
