We work on mostly simple stuff here in my classes but I also have focused about 20% of our time on the intricacies of the human face. It really is alarming how many differences there are in one person's features to another and we have used grid programs so that students could focus on just tiny individual parts of a person's face rather than attempting to do it all, all at once.
Not everyone's eyes are the same distance apart although they are close, not everyone's face has the same wrinkle patterns because some people smile more than others and have had more exposure to the sun.
Well I presented my students with a fun little project and as always, participation was completely elective. I was happy that a few of the students went ahead and did it and these are what they came back with. Let's see if you can guess who the celebrities are.
This one I got wrong and I'll tell you who it is at the end. After the student told me who it is, it was just a matter of me not being involved in the same interests as they are and not I guess as up to speed on today's famous people. Once they told me who it was I immediately recognized it.
This one I did get correct and the 13 year old girl was quite impressed as if almost everyone in the world doesn't know who this very famous person is.
The students said that these drawings took them several hours to do and I am just seriously impressed that they would devote that much time to something that isn't a video game or something on a smartphone. There is still hope for the future yet!
By the way that answers are Joe Rogan and Arianna Grande
Did you get them correct?
