I f there's anything I have learnt this week, it's true, whoever said you can not teach old dogs new tricks couldn't have hit the nail on the head any better.
Let's just say the first day of language school was pretty hard. Oh my goodness. And apparently Spanish is one of the easiest languages to learn out here. Probably true, but my head felt like it would explode at some point yesterday. I guess it's got to do with too much information too fast, but as I understand, the more you practice and learn, the easier it gets. Who knows, I might start doing some vlogs in Spanish much later on in the year. I cannot wait for such times, but for now, a girl needs to put in some work, some real hard work.
What new skills are you trying to learn in 2020?
I had never thought about adding a languages to my skills lsit, but now I see that was a mistake. It's incredible how much opportunities you can get out here when you can speak a variety of languages. Unfortunately back in Kenya and probably Africa as a large don't put much emphasis on linguistics, especially international languages. I guess it has to do with the fact that a majority of us speak several tribal languages and parents never see the need for more.
If I could turn back time, I would certainly learn some more, preferably when I was much younger since that's the easiest time to do it. Much later in life it's rather difficult. And scientifically, the best time for a child to effortlessly learn a new langauge it's before they turn 10 years old. So if you intend for yours to have a better grasp, do it before then.
yeah it does sound like a case of "information overload" - baby steps hon :D
