Many attest to its effectiveness in the treatment of acne as it unclogs the pores but if you must use scrubs when you have acne, it should be mild and without abrasive particles because physical scrubs only tend to exacerbate and further irritate the skin.

Use of baking soda for exfoliating the skin tends to bring your skin to a neutral pH from it's original acidic one. This imbalance in the skin pH might eventually damage the skin's barrier which protects it from intruders such as micro organisms.

When baking soda is used in the treatment of acne, it removes excess oil which eventually leads to excessive dryness that makes the skin produce more oil thereby worsening acne breakouts.

Baking soda has its benefits in the kitchen and baking but for the skin, what do you think?
