Slaughterbots - not scary at all.

Have you guys seen this?

It's totally fictional, it's not at all real...
It's a short movie created by professor Stuart Russell (University of California at Berkley) and the Future of Life Institute.
It's intended to warn people about the progression of weaponized technology... and it totally hits home.

It's super easy to see how if tiny strike drones like this aren't already possible, then they could be in the near future.
Obviously range would be an issue, but I'm sure that could be sorted pretty easily... but if the drones are pre-programmed then radio-jamming technology wouldn't affect the mission.

Anyway, it is totally fictional, but I thought the ideas behind the short film were super interesting and slightly terrifying, but also kind of exciting too. To fight a war with potentially very few civilian casualties would be incredible... the obvious question being... who decides who the enemy is?

Yes- amazing! We really need to have the AI work toward positive things for humanity. This military industrial complex paradigm is old and must go. Great share! Thank you!

Thanks... my first thought in watching this was... why do they have to kill? Crimes, war, violence all come from a place where people don't feel they can survive with the status quo.. but if technology can bring about changes where everyone can be happy then that's where all our efforts should be.

I realize some people are just jerks and can never be happy, but I'd assume the vast majority of people would live their lives peaceful if they're comfortable - which technology can provide.

Agree.
