Mostly reason why you cant sleep is that you are excited about something, or worried or you just cant fall asleep but you are trying really hard.
The mistake is forcing sleep and thats main reason why you cant sleep, solution is simple and it is proved by Viktor Frankl, you have to lay down and think "I have to be awake as much as I can". That will be helpful because you wont be woried about that will you fall asleep and you will be asleep in few minutes.
