An Illustration Process: Metal Gear "Snake"

Who has not played any video game, ever? None! Even the snake you play on your old nokia phones count, the solitaire you used to play on old PCs, the Super Marios on you old consoles, or even the tamaguchi you had when you were a kid. We all played videogames and I believe it has been part of our growth, the framework of our childhood.

I also believe that videogames helped us to make better decisions in life, built our character and boosted our critical thinking skills. From accomplishing side quests to focusing on making our own directions of our own stories. It made us a better person, the skills we achieved and the traits we have boosted, applying all to experience, we become better human beings.

Hello once again STEEMIANS! Here's another piece of me sharing another piece of artwork! Right now, I'll be showing you a progress. An Illustration of a famous videogame, METAL GEAR. Featuring it's main character, SNAKE.

Honestly, I haven't played METAL GEAR before. Despite of it's great feedbacks. I still haven't had a chance to play even a single game. Better yet, I was still fascinated about this main character, SNAKE.

So a client wanted me to make an illustration of Snake, his favorite video game character. So, I decided to put it on a 1/2 illustration board then proceeded into sketching.

I took a lot of photos of snake, thought about a good pose and an angle so here it goes. I came up with this.

After the figure got all penciled up. I now go into outlining the piece. Of course, with the help of pens and sharpies, I filled all the dark areas up.

After outlining, I softly shaded Snake's body with pencil. The reason for this is because after making the background I could still adjust the shadow of Snake's body.

After that, I painted the background using poster paints, red and black. Shaded a lil bit of water color on the upper right side.

Finishing touches, colored Snake's body with color pencils. Then voila! Wer'e done! With that! Let us now go into sharing!
