In the specific context of supermarket proliferation, local businesses are being affected. if this situation were to continue, local communities would become extinct has been a matter of debate. I agree completely with this alarming trend although people who agree with the latter.though many debates have been conducted, no conclusion has been reached in this context the pros and the cons are worth being examined.
Advantages
On one hand, supermarkets bring many advantages for us. To begin with ,supermarkets have made shopping easier and hassle free. because the availability of a wide range of products under a single roof saves not only one's money but also one's time. Another advantage which could be taken into consideration is that supermarkets promote economic growth. They employ lots of people and job creation certainly helps the local economy .Since supermarkets attract a large number of consumers, the area surrounding them also tends to develop owing to increased consumer activity. Finally ,supermarket foods are considered to be hygienic and fresh. Usually supermarkets organise their products in a definite and neat way. Moreover they clean the place often to make sure the place is tidy.it is because of these reasons people prefer supermarkets.
Disadvantages
On the other hand there are dark sides to the increasing supermarkets which cannot be ignored .It is on account of increasing supermarkets ,local businesses mostly do not Have a proper income. at this juncture ,the business should make a decision one can either close down the business or rise to the challenge .but it is quite unfortunate that many of them have shut down due to they cannot compete with a big Store that sells just about everything under one roof .as a result of which many individuals Being unemployed. All these factors point to the conclusion that expansion of supermarkets affects local businesses.
Conslusion
In the light of these arguments advanced for and against,it is advisable for us to promote local businesses.hence,in my considered opinion, supermarkets have both positive and negative impacts on the society.
