2HR-MVP: A short guide on how to test and idea in two hours

in small •  8 years ago

I work with people who are starting companies all the time. As someone who's started a business or two, people tend to come to me with ideas of things they want to try.

Many people have purchased a domain name, and not much else. Some have done tons of research and think they have it all figured out, but need ten million to get started.

The reality is that no matter how big your idea is, you can get it started in less than two hours without spending more then $100. I've taught this as a workshop and it was pretty incredible, people starting to work on ideas they've sat on for YEARS. I'm excited to share this with Steemit!

Steps:

  • 1.Google your idea
    1. Iterate based on response
    1. Sketch out customer profiles of people who you think would buy this
    1. Sketch your idea show it to people who resemble your customer profiles (Nobody will steal it)
    • a. Iterate based on response
    • b. If drastic change, repeat step 3
    1. Google your newly refined idea
    1. Build a landing page
    1. Buy ads targeting your customer profile

If you’re getting a good conversion to email signups for your industry then this idea may be worth pursuing more, and if not you’ve only spent a few hours and a few dollars to learn a ton!

I'm happy to answer any questions about this process!
