Small Time Operator – Yes I’ll Take Another Helping of Cake!

in smalltimeoperator •  6 years ago  (edited)

Hi Steemian friends!

If you’ve been using Steemit for a while, you probably remember what it’s like being new. But, in these fast changing times, moving out of beta, new leadership, marketing, advertising, weedcash network, PALNet, HF 21 …. (you get the idea); it can be very overwhelming, especially when you're a single small fry!

I decided to chronicle some of my Steemit experiences as I go along, in hopes of helping some of the bigger fish understand how it feels, and as a signal to other young Plankton that they are not really as alone as it might seem!

So come along with me and see some of my happy discoveries of what Steemit has to offer!

Lonely Me, But Not For Long!

After tagging my first introduction post incorrectly, and swimming along, mostly unnoticed, @mattclarke dropped in with a fun comment and let me know I wasn’t all alone. After having a brief chat with him in discord, he took the time to notice and support my post! And, it was most appreciated!

Next, came @steemitboard, showing me a little love for making my first vote (on Matt’s comment).

Then I saw a nice chocolate cupcake comment on my post. I LOVE baked goods and I especially love chocolate, so I was happy to get the virtual cake! And, underneath the cupcake was a sweet little note from @victoriabsb. Turns out Victoria had noticed me chatting in the PAL discord server, and also came to pay me a visit, by giving me a bit of @helpiecake!

When you’re a lonely little Plankton, gestures like those made by @mattclarke, @steemitboard and @victoriabsb are so meaningful and encouraging!

More Cake!

After I had made a few more posts, I received a big slice of confetti @helpiecake, this time from @vibesforlife. And, in another post (about a week later) a layer of chocolate with chocolate frosting @helpiecake was delivered from @amberyooper! A couple more posts followed, and then a lovely large slice of @helpiecake with pink icing from @niallon11 was served. A week later, another double chocolate @helpiecake was added to the comment menu by @macchiata.

While I was nibbling on all that great @helpiecake, I was also busy meeting all sorts of great folks and joining various Steemit communities!

Location, Location, Location!

Just recently, I came upon the #powerhousecreatives door, knocked, and they let me in! I have truly felt welcomed and genuinely like all the people I am meeting everywhere I go.

In my next Small Time Operator post, I will share more details about some of these fabulous communities and my new friends!

Steemit has so many intelligent, forward-thinking, and talented folks, and I am so happy to have found a lot of them! Or, in some cases, they found me!

I am so glad that you are discovering a lot about the platform through the helpful communities you are in. I love these communities, they are all needed to nest the newbies. What you have written is exactly what I have been thinking about. Before tribes or anything else, a newbie must be familiar with the basics of Steemit and that is what we are here for, the Plankton community and other Steemit communities. I hope that all newbies are like you who would take the time to engage and be familiar with the platform and slowly catch with the new things coming up in the many DApps and sidechains like Steem Enging and Scotcot tribes. You are on the right track, just keep steeming! Thank you for the mention.

Congratulations with all the achievements and all the nice people you have encountered here, you are blessed.

I think it is pretty overwhelming for new steemians to get in with all that's going on these days but I think its the start of making this place more welcoming. By creating these tribes we can now have people enjoy sharing their interests and getting rewards in tokens instead of just desperately trying to get steem. I think its going to be a lot more fun

Hopefully, tribes will also start to onboard new users and then later bring them into the bigger steem universe

Oh yes! I think you’re right! I feel so blessed to belong to a few different tribes. For someone that has many interests, Steemit is a glorious place! Maybe an onboardinng document talking about communities, something like a menu would be a good idea.

Tell it to everybody hahaha

On the contrary, we live a great time and this is very exciting!

Are you agreeing or disagreeing???? Not sure what you are saying here! ;-)

My point is we are in a good time on the steem blockchain.

Yes! Great times! I’m so excited about the future and what all the changes will bring! However, when you are new, you especially need help to understand it all!
