SMARTCONTAINERS Swot Analysis

This time, i want to analyze what i have been able to find out so far during my researching of the Smartcontainer project in the following segments of strength, weakness, opportunity and strength

STRENGTH
Smartcontainer is a Swiss company, which means they have an office and have been in business for 5 years now. With this, they have an experience of how the logistics industry works and have a product which has been used by many customers. They are not just a bunch of individuals with a fancy whitepaper and plenty of promises. They have been in business and have known how to stay profitable in business as well. Their working product which includes SkyCell and FoodGuardians, speaks for itself worldwide as they are already operational and in use. Its containers have been able to reduce CO2 emissions. All this and more makes up the strength of the project.

WEAKNESS

Even though the Smartcontainer project is revolutionizing the logistics industry and making many things right and easier in the industry, notwithstanding there are some major defects in the project. The issue of making global payment with the Logi token. In most countries and jurisdictions where cryptocurrency is not yet being accepted as a means of payment, making payment in such areas will be impossible as the use of cryptocurrency is illegal. This will limit the global adoption of the project. The project should look into integrating other modes of payment like fiat and a countries local currency as well.

OPPORTUNITY

With advancements in medicine and the treatment of rare diseases, there is need to make sure that each treatment required is kept in a good condition before consumption. The Smartcontainer project is right on time to ensure that these products which are temperature sensitive are shipped and kept in the right temperature before it is consumed. This will spread the word more about the project with its use case of solving the problem of handling sensitive pharma and food products.

THREAT

Two threats face the project. Now we have present and we have future threats. The present threat is the logistics industry. The Smartcontainer is trying to revolutionize the logistics industry by making both modes of payment easier and making Containers for shipping of sensitive goods available. The logistics company will try to fight the project as the project will be taking away most of their pharma customers who will see a better offer and a more profitable one with the Smartcontainer project.

Then we look at the future threats: competitors. Already there is a competitor (Styrofoam boxes with gel pack) and many others will try to copy the project to either modify it or offer cheaper services thereby dragging Smartcontainers already existing customer base along with them.

Amidst all this weakness and threats mentioned above, Smartcontainer has an edge over its competitors as is seen in the case of Styrofoam boxes with a gel pack, these packs are disposable and can only work under a given temperature. The Smartcontainer’s Containers are sensitive to weather change and adapts to all temperature changes.

To me, I think this is a worthwhile investment as it is addressing real life issues and not only this, they have been in business for a while and have a knowledge of what they are doing and have been profitable doing it for 5 years now.
