Yea, spot on here. This is true for most masternodes. The wallet state is what the wallet THINKS is happening. It too has to sync with the network. If the masternode list in your wallet is out of date, then it will think your masternode is missing. The best place to look at your masternode status is through a trusted block explorer for the coin. Most list active masternodes and the lists are usually searchable.
