First off you may be wondering what SmartCash is.
SmartCash is a promising digital currency that excels in speed, privacy, reward structure, governance and community building. While most currencies only reward miners, SmartCash rewards holders and promoters of the currency. From their website - "70% of the block reward has been allocated to fund SmartHive community proposals as well as the Hive Teams. 30% of the remaining block reward has been allocated to Mining (5%) and SmartRewards (15%) and SmartNodes (10%)."
I've been getting holding rewards from SmartRewards for months (requires 1,000 SMART) and I finally scrounged up enough (10,000 SMART) to get my first node.
The Node Payout
I've only had a node for 5 days and I got a payout of 235.3 SMART! So at the current value of SmartCash (.37 as of writing) that's worth $87. Not too shabby already and the month has just began! Get Your Own SmartNode
I'd actually prefer if the number of nodes stays low, because that'd mean current owners such as myself get higher and more frequent payouts. But on the other hand, more nodes would mean more people would be HODLing Smart and the price will rise.
I recommend setting up a node on a Vultr VPS and then reading this guide. If you have any issues, I wouldn't ask me... because I'm not an expert. There are friendly folks on their Discord who can assist you. Good luck and may the SMART be with you!
UPDATE: I got my 2nd payout of 233.9 SMART on the 4th! I'm sorry if some people haven't gotten theirs yet :( I think I've gotten pretty lucky but apparently the developers are making changes to make payouts more fair.

i have a follow up question for you. The reward you get for holding 1000 SMART in your wallet, do you get that while running the node also. or the 10k smart for node means no staking reward.

Yes, you get SmartRewards as well. However your first month you'll miss out on them since you have to send the 10K to a new wallet.

so your 2nd month earning would be 940 SMART for node reward + 500 SMART reward for holding 10k in your wallet. its like $530 a month and you'll be break even in 6-7 months even if the token price stays the same.

Well at the current block reward maybe. The block reward gets reduced slightly every month and the more people that are part of the SMART ecosystem the more people that will be splitting the rewards. But I think the price will increase as it's a very good project with a great community (but who knows with crypto).

It's just $5 per month on Vultr. I think it won't need much maintenance as there are auto update scripts for the SmartNode stuff.

It's been in the Top 100 Marketcap most of this year. I think it started as one but the concept was solid and it's grown a strong community and is able to fund lots of updates, projects and promotions.
