Previously when there was very limited number of vendors in the smartphone market offering the not so good looking and bulky smartphones, we didn’t actually have any choice. But things have changed, today we not only have the (all metal design) good looking smartphones but also the option to choose one, which falls within our budget. At the same time technology inside smartphone has reached a new level, for example we have finger print sensor in the smartphone for better security, previously it was considered as some high end feature and no one thought that one day we will be unlocking our smartphone with gentle press of our finger. And some technology giants are working to take this to a new level by having Iris sensor enables smartphone, which means for unlocking our phones we just have to look at it. But one question still remains, as what next?
Every day a company launches a new smartphones with the better camera, more mega pixel count, powerful processor and good looks. But they miss the Wow factor. And the rate at which the companies are launching new smartphones, believe me one day we will just went to the market and say “ Bhaiya ek lollipop wala full HD screen k saath smartphone dena”. Seriously we need to think what we need from our smartphone. There was a time the smartphones were coming with the 512mb RAM, than it upgraded to 1GB, recently companies are launching the smartphone with 3 or 4 GB. But beyond that there are some companies which are launching 6GB RAM of smartphones. To name a few companies like Vivo’s Xplay Elite 5, Vernee Apollo has already launched the smartphones with massive RAM options. A country where still desktop PC has at most 4GB RAM and still most of the part remain unused. What exactly are we supposed to do with 6GB RAM?
Out of many important element which contributes to the performance of the smartphone one important one is the processor. And believe me there is a lot of confusion when it comes to processor. A dual core is much better than a quad core and an Octa core is much better than a quad core. Right? Well sometimes yes and sometimes no. because it all depends upon the different things. Some processors are clocked at higher frequency and some at lower. Ex: a dual core processor with 2Ghz can give a solid fight to the 1.2Ghz quad core. Having extra core doesn’t mean just more power it also means the phone will get warm frequently. So we need to think what exactly are we gonna do with our smartphones whether it is for gaming or for multitasking.
This is one of the biggest myth that the high mega pixel count means better image. Well not always. Because the image is captured in the image sensor so bigger the sensor the better and more real the image will look. Pixel count mean how many tiny pixel you can put in one inch (PPI – Pixel Per Inch). Yes it plays an important role as more the pixel the more you can zoom the image. But still more mega pixel camera doesn’t mean a better photo. For ex: an iphone 5 with 8 Mega pixel camera can outperform Micromax 16 mega pixel camera phone. So before buying the smartphone don’t just focus on the mega pixel count, test it and then but it.
Today’s smartphone are getting the high end features like finger print scanner, 3D touch, Swivel camera, Front Flash but they all are missing something. They need to focus on the new features but have to improve the basic features. Like what will you do with 3D touch if your smartphone battery doesn’t last long? Instead of adding the more and more feature, they can just improve the battery, make the display better and pack it in a rough and tough metal body. There’s a lot that can be done instead of increasing the RAM and power of processor.
