My human mom loves flowers and loves purple. In looking through her phone tonight, I found some purple azaleas a neighbor of ours planted at his driveway entrance.
Azaleas are native plants in North America, Asia and Europe. They are planted for their ornamentation in gardens. They do well planted under other trees and flower from about April to June depending on global location.
They are highly poisonous both in vegetation and nectar as they contain andromedotoxin. It is said that honey produced from bees feed specifically on azaleas produce mind altering honey known as 'mad honey'. It is said in Roman history that an army invading Pontus in Turkey was poisoned with this honey. Yikes!
Although pretty, I think I'd stay away from these guys!! Have a purrr-fect day!
Very pretty to look at... but definitely not something for kitties to nibble on!
=^..^=
