My husband and I see A LOT of bands.
Music is his “thing”. During the summer we probably go to a concert every other week. We’ve had a little hiatus since New Year’s, but our concert calendar is heating up.
This week we headed to The Crocodile to see a band called The Expendables.
First off, let’s talk about the venue. The Crocodile is legendary in the Seattle music scene. It opened in 1991 and was at the epicenter of the Seattle Grunge explosion. “Local bands” Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden all played gigs at The Crocodile (formerly known as The Crocodile Cafe). In 2007 the venue abruptly closed in part due to financial struggles. Under new ownership, a fresh remodel and a shortened name The Crocodile reopened in 2009.
🎶 Now Back to the Music 🎶
The Expendables are a four man Reggae Rock band from Santa Cruz, California. Frontman Geoff Weers (guitar and vocals), and his long time friends Raul Bianchi (lead guitar), Adam Patterson (drums and vocals) and Ryan DeMars (bass) formed the band in 1997. In the years since they have released five albums and toured across the United States and Europe.
This tour celebrates the 10 year anniversary of the debut of their self titled album.
I was super excited to hear one of my favorite of their songs, Sacrafice.
This song starts off soft but unleashes the rock at 2:20.

One of my favorite concert memories was hearing Sacrafice live for the first time. The lead singer’s shirt was off, his hair down and blowing in the wind created by an off stage fan. The crowd was in frenzy. The moment was sooooo Rock.
The bands Pacific Dub and Through the Roots (both from Southern California) opened the show. Each band returned to the stage for the show’s grand finale, a cover of The Back Street Boys’ I Want it That Way. It was a hilarious ending to a fun night.

Ahhh watching bands and listening to music is a great thing to do! I don't know this music, but I will listen to some while Steeming the coming hour or so :-) Love the pictures that come with them too!

This band is very California. My husband is music obsessed particularly the reggae/rock and ska/punk genres. So we see a ton of bands in these two scenes.
Most of the bands we see are also smaller and make their money touring verses radio play or even album/single sales.
Half of our vacations revolve around seeing a band. Like we might go to California and visit Disneyland one day, then see a band the next. It’s fun.
