Acer Palmatum- otherwise known as the Japanese Maple tree, comes in a variety of shapes and colors. This particular tree in my front yard is called a Bloodgood. It is also known as an Atropurpureum. Japanese Maple trees have over 1000 'cultivars', or varieties which have been created through grafting. They can range in height from 1/2 foot to 82 feet! They are perfect for accent in the garden, or if of the larger variety, a tree all to itself.
In spring, the leaves come out as a pale blood-red (maybe burgundy depending on how you look at it). As the spring progresses into summer, it develops a deeper shade.
Then, in the fall, one day it appears a bit washed out and then suddenly, the leaves take on this vibrant shade a red. We have three different varieties of Japanese Maple in our yard, and they are all beautiful no matter the season.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you've enjoyed this little bit of fall color. Please don't forget to upvote and resteem! Have a nice day! :)
